The idea with the forum is to let readers send in articles/letters. So you have done the right thing. If you would prefer me not to print your article, then let me know.

Re: ..........
possibly elizabeth's letter in VV 118 had been edited, which made its meaning unclear?
she asked for the return of her article, but perhaps was okay with you keeping the book review?
unfortunately her book review was printed with 10 spelling mistakes!!
elizabeth's letter of complaint about this was printed in VV 119, with a spelling mistake which i am sure she did not put there. elizabeth stated that she was very disappointed.
your reply says sorry but continues flippantly so does not give the impression that you are really sorry.
you then urge that potential writers should make efforts to find a way to send their work in by email, even if they have to ask someone else to send it for them, so that they can be reasonably sure of not having spelling mistakes appear before their contribution makes it into the mag.
why should elderly writers, as elizabeth says she is, have to start making efforts that have never been needed before, simply because you are unable to have their article typed up accurately?
that is not a reasonable attitude for you to have, as editor of a small magazine, who (one would hope) does not wish to alienate its long-time loyal supporters.
